The entire Shaw’s script-writing section created this quintessential swordplay epic of the “Martial Arts World.” It was entrusted it to neophyte director Li Pai-ling, who used no fewer than three cinematographers and four martial arts directors (not to mention a separate action director) to realize their vision.
