Master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock had many disciples in Hong Kong whom he was not aware of. They had produced countless Mandarin and Cantonese thrillers during the 1950s and 1960s, including Death Traps directed by Wang Tianlin. Helen Li Mei plays the role of an alcoholic who, in a state of drunkeness, mistakenly hires a mafia boss to kill herself. Li has often been compared to singer/actress Bai Guang who is also renowned for her femme fatale image. Both actresses impress the audience with a combination of their stunning beauty and the subtle sexiness (if not foxiness) of their exceptional performance.
